It will be very difficult to have a successful trip without analyzing the combos available. Every fisherman has an opinion when it comes to combos, and of course, they all think that are correct.

The most comprehensive way to find out about the best combos is to discuss it with fishermen who have been around a long time. This could of course cause a major row amongst previously happy fishermen, so there are other options.

If you are want to try out a combo then you should check out some of the established sport stores. These are preconfigured combos and most outlets will let you ‘try it out before you buy it’. There is usually one condition to this, you have to try it without a hook. Picking a combo can be difficult and there for it is best to stick with the experienced companies as they are more likely to have got the combo right and got it to be as comfortable as possible for as many people as possible. Getting one of these will mean that you can practice your technique without too much trauma.

There will always be the element who turn their noses up an preconfigured combos and insist that the only way forward is to create you own. It will probably prove significantly more expensive to buy the rod and reel separately, but if you are a perfectionist then this may be the way forward. Sometimes there is the complication that a combo will initially feel right, but will then start to feel awkward and uncomfortable. The upside is that once you have found your combo then you will have created it specifically for you and you will always have pride in it.

As with most decisions, there will always be at least two version. Which every way you choose to go, you should have faith in your choice and believe that you are doing your best. You do not want to feel every time that you go that you have got the wrong combo, feeling like this will affect your enjoyment of your hobby, and after all, a hobby is all about enjoyment.
